De film is ook vertoond op het festival in Toronto waar het de Kids Young People’s Jury Award (leeftijd 11-13 jr.) heeft gewonnen. De jury verklaarde: “One of the reasons as to why we chose Vampire Sisters is because the story was engaging and appealing. Also, it shows the audience a good main message; be yourself, and love who you are.”
Tijdens het filmfestival in Stockholm werd de film bekroond als "Best Film for Children" met de motivatie: "A loving story about friendship and the courage to be different. With a current theme the film engages its audience with surprising elements and unsuspected effects. The film is fast and funny in a quirky way."
De film wordt 7 augustus in Nederland verwacht. Het boek van de film zal dan ook in de boekhandel liggen.
